I have yet to get a succesful installation running locally, however, in testing the online instance here the windows appropriately cascade down and tho the right, but, they do not stop at the edge or restart at the top when the bottom is reached. Instead they are allowed to continue being instantiated beyond the desktop boundaries. Are there plans to change this behavior in the Silverlight Desktop or is this something I can control when developing my modules? Thanks! |

That has been logged as a bug: http://www.codeplex.com/SilverlightDesktop/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=6058 We plan to fix it in the next month or so. Also, What problems have you run into when trying to install it? |

Kinda lengthy and a great example of how NOT to install Silverlight Desktop, maybe someone will learn from my mistakes, sorry... My first attempt I tried while still using DNN 4.8.0. I modified the web.config (I think it was done right) then I installed the module which installed the Silverlight Desktop (SLD) fine but when I returned to the Module Definitions I got an error, sorry forget what it said now, but it was a compilation error. So I removed the module definition from the DB directly, removed all references in the web.config to the module and deleted all the installed files and was able to get the site running but could not get to the Host, Admin or Account Properties pages while logged in as host. Then I realized that the instance I just installed on wasn't up to the required version so I did an upgrade to 4.9.0 and it worked (the version was updated in the DB) but I still couldn't access the Admin, Host or Account Settings so I then did a "full" restore, but left the web.config with the SLD settings and still could not access the Admin, Host or Account Settings. Then I finally realized it was the web.config that was causing the problems so I reverted back to the pre-SLD settings and everything came back. I've since upgraded to DNN 4.9.0 but have not had a chance to retry, but I'll update you on how it goes. If you learn anything from this it should be to make a COMPLETE backup of your site and database BEFORE making any major changes to your site, and at times minor ones too. This one was for sure my fault for not being at the required DNN 4.8.2 version as stated in the installation instructions, but I still learned a lot. Thanks for the update on the bug and for putting so much into this module. I'm really counting on it for my upcoming module development. We're getting ready to start a complete overhaul of a very old ASP 3.0 B2B application, with online ordering, reports and more using web services to our legacy flat file db system and really want this to work in Silverlight and in DNN. We're already using DNN for content management and I'd really like to offer a better experience for all account management tasks to our customers and I think this is the way to do it. Keep up the great work! |
